I hope you've all been watching the World Series. It doesn't happen much when it comes to baseball, but I'm almost completely speechless right now. And besides a World Series with the Pirates in it, I can't imagine that baseball could make me much happier than it has in these last three weeks.
Seriously though, this was the most exciting game 6 since Buckner let Mookie's grounder get past him 25 years ago. The Rangers 'pen (besides Holland) looked like Jose Veras last night. Hopefully they can close tonight.
I love that when Nellie Cruz hits a home run, Elvis Andrus throws water in his face! Imagine Ronny Cedeno doing that to 'Cutch on a National stage!!!
Usually the World Series depresses me. Watching teams that have multiple great players, incredible depth, very few weak spots, etc. after watching the Pirates all year and looking for signs of hope, I always realized how wide the gap is between us and them.
That is true this year, but the difference is that I've realized we don't need to replace Clint Hurdle to have a championship caliber manager. I've been shouting "What are you doing?!" during these games just as often as I did with the Bucs in the regular season. This series has Hurdle's fingerprints all over it. So although we need to upgrade our talent, next year whenever Hurdle goes on a bunt-a-thon, rather than get upset, I will recall this series and repeat "I'm all in" as my personal mantra.
