Gerrit Cole in the AFL: Volume 3

If Gerrit Cole’s first AFL outing was a bit rough around the edges and the second was a little more polished, his third was definitely his best yet. He threw 3 2/3 no-hit innings on Wednesday afternoon, striking out four, walking one, and allowing one unearned run. Obviously it’s way early in his career, but I can’t pretend like I’m not enjoying every single one of these start given all of the uncertainty surrounding the first pick in June.

As for the rest of the Solar Sox/Pirates, Robbie Grossman put up a rare 0-for-4 afternoon, but Jarek Cunningham added two hits (including a double).

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
