A big series

At the 75 game mark, the Pirates are a game behind the Reds and a half-game ahead of the Cardinals in the NL Central heading into Busch Stadium Mark 3 for a weekend series. This is about as big as baseball gets for a team that hasn’t had a winning season since 1992.

Unfortunatey for the Buccos, AJ Burnett and James McDonald both pitched to close out the Phillies series, which means they won’t be pitching in St. Louis this weekend. Which means that Kevin Correia and Adam Wainwright is the pitching matchup tonight. There’s a pretty high potential for disaster there in the Correia v. Cardinals matchup, but all we can do is sit back and hope for the best. I’m back in Western PA for a wedding this weekend, so there’s a chance I might be able to watch this game over something other than an internet connection.

First pitch is at 8:15.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
