Charlie Morton’s electric sinker

Charlie Morton tells Jen Langosch that he’s throwing his sinker again this spring and that he feels much better than he did last year after Joe Kerrigan got him to stop throwing it.

Charlie’s got a good post up about this story already, pointing out that teams and players often find very mundane things to get excited about after bad years (slide steps! for example), but also that not being able to throw his sinker could be why Morton was so schizophrenic and all over the place at times on the mound last year.

Meanwhile, I say that we probably need one more look at Morton’s PitchFX data to compare last year with what we have from 2009. And by that I mean, “I guess I know what I’m doing this weekend!”

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
