Pirates swap Casey McGehee for Chad Qualls

Got 2d confirm,
— Joel Sherman (@Joelsherman1) July 31, 2012#Yankeess did get McGehee for Qualls
This is apretty minor move and more of a compliment to the Gaby Sanchez deal than anything else (McGehee becomes redundant if the Pirates bring Sanchez up right away), but man, Chad Qualls is terrible. If he ends up on the roster instead of Bryan Morris, I will be pretty unhappy.
Even if this was a courtesy move for McGehee's sake, I'd think simply being DFA'd (or traded for a PTBNL) would be more prestigious than simply being swapped for Chad Qualls.
I don't normally talk about things like this because I think they're mostly foolish. However. Chemistry has taken this team a long way and Casey was a big part of that. I'd have kept McGhee and called up Morris.
Qualls = Sucks. Remember the last time we traded a pseudo- first baseman to the Yankees for a shitty pitcher? It was Craig Wilson for Shawn Chacon... I hate this trade.
Awful, awful, awful. Sanchez has a career road OPS of just over 700, and he can't play anywhere but first--and now if Alvarez needs a day off against lefties, you have Harrison at third instead of McGehee. Qualls is the Typhoid Mary of relief ptichers.
I understand the reason, but this is the best they can get? Is Qualls just part of the deal so he can carry bags of money to Pittsburgh?
