Let's see: a strong, seven-inning AJ Burnett start, a Pedro Alvarez triple (!), a two-run Andrew McCutchen triple, and a three-run Josh Harrison triple (with 'Cutch and Harrison's triples both coming in a five-run seventh inning), combined with a Cardinal loss and a Red loss.
Combine all this with Francisco Liriano's great start on Monday, and this road trip is off to about as good a start as any of us would've dared hope for on Sunday.
It's bed time.
What is reassuring for me is that the Bucs are beating up a weaker team and looking better in doing it. I always forget that the Pirates play a pretty high level of competition for most of the season; no other NL division has two teams as good as the Reds and Cards, or three teams as good as the Reds, Cards, and Bucs. And the D-backs are pretty decent, it isn't unexpected that they'd take 2 of 3 from a team ahead of them in the standings.
Bring it. Cole is back on his home turf (Cali), and he'll be hyped up, which could go either way but I'm confident we're going to see Future Gerrit Cole this afternoon.
