Three’s a streak

On Sunday morning, we were worried about the Pirates being swept by the Reds out of the NL Central race. If the Pirates can pull off a win on Tuesday night, they’ll be on a three-game winning streak and a season-high 17 games over .500. It’s amazing how quickly things can turn around in a baseball season. Clint Hurdle continues his weird lineup management tonight by returning both Travis Snider and Pedro Alvarez, who haven’t played since Saturday, to the lineup against lefty Patrick Corbin. Garrett Jones will sit. Corbin’s a 22-year old rookie who’s only made six big league starts and was only just put back into the D’Backs rotation on August 1st after a rough start to his career.

Jeff Karstens goes for the Pirates. The first pitch tonight is at 7:05.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
