Jeff Locke up, Alex Presley down

The Pirates promoted Jeff Locke and sent Alex Presley down this afternoon. I’m sure this is just a short-term move with Kevin Correia making a spot-start tonight and the Pirates having so many consecutive games, but it’s notable that they’re sending Presley down instead of Jordy Mercer, if only because Presley now can’t be recalled for ten days. It’s possible the Pirates will want the roster spot currently occupied by Locke for a different reliever over the course of this long stretch of games. We’ll probably find out in fairly short order.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
