Jeff Locke up, Alex Presley down

Written by Pat Lackey on .

The Pirates promoted Jeff Locke and sent Alex Presley down this afternoon. I'm sure this is just a short-term move with Kevin Correia making a spot-start tonight and the Pirates having so many consecutive games, but it's notable that they're sending Presley down instead of Jordy Mercer, if only because Presley now can't be recalled for ten days. It's possible the Pirates will want the roster spot currently occupied by Locke for a different reliever over the course of this long stretch of games. We'll probably find out in fairly short order.

I expect the corresponding move will be Tabata up/Locke down... and then if they need another arm, maybe Mercer goes down.

It means Snider >> Presley.  That's a good thing.

 @devilinpgh However...it also means we don't have a 4th OF that's a true OF on our bench anymore. That's a bad thing.
