Tonight, the Pirates face Jamie Moyer, who is 49 years old and can't throw 80 mph. That means he's old enough to be many of the Pirates' dad and they all probably threw harder than he does now when they were 15. That said, Moyer's the type of pitcher that you need patience against and the Pirates are almost completely without any sort of patience whatsoever this year.
For the Bucs, Kevin Correia will enjoy his new lease on life in the rotation after missing a couple of days with a side problem. He's been excellent so far this year, but he was terrible in PNC Park last year and this is his first start at PNC in 2012. I don't know if I make anything of his home/road splits from last year, but they're at least worth mentioning.
The first pitch tonight is at 7:05.
Moyer made his Major League Debut four days after my eighth birth day in 1986. What's even sadder and makes me feel older is that we've had only FOUR WINNING SEASONS SINCE!!!
Clint Barmes is great! Bunts create offense! Tony Watson is a winner!
but seriously, great result. tomorrow - quest for 500
Pirates need to lower all the outfield walls by about four inches. Those walls have cost us at least 4 homers already this season.
The camera angle is so much better this year. Haven't watched a ton of baseball this year, but gottdam.
