The Old Man and the Pirates

Tonight, the Pirates face Jamie Moyer, who is 49 years old and can’t throw 80 mph. That means he’s old enough to be many of the Pirates’ dad and they all probably threw harder than he does now when they were 15. That said, Moyer’s the type of pitcher that you need patience against and the Pirates are almost completely without any sort of patience whatsoever this year.

For the Bucs, Kevin Correia will enjoy his new lease on life in the rotation after missing a couple of days with a side problem. He’s been excellent so far this year, but he was terrible in PNC Park last year and this is his first start at PNC in 2012. I don’t know if I make anything of his home/road splits from last year, but they’re at least worth mentioning.

The first pitch tonight is at 7:05.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
