For the past few years, the Pirates have "rewarded" many of their top prospects with the opportunity to represent the franchise on their affiliated high-profile Arizona Fall League team, the Scottsdale Scorpions. The Bucs share this team with the Phillies & Giants, among others.
As i currently work in Scottsdale, i spent a fair number of lunches this past season "going out for a hot dog" a few blocks north. Amazingly, José Tabata, Donnie Veal, Chase D'Arnaud, Danny Moskos, and Brian Friday tended to have the same idea...
Regardless of a vibrant history, AFL games are sparsely-attended - predominately by scouts who sit behind homeplate with radar guns and mumble to each other that Donnie Veal is "hot, but needs another plus breaking pitch". It's easy to meet and talk to players, who are easily identifiable due to the AFL kit consisting of a flex-fit team cap and their respective franchise's uniform.

yeah, they're not too big on signage... or parking... at Scottsdale Stadium. Behold the only signage that exists for the field, next to the emergency entrance for Scottsdale Healthcare at the corner of Osborn & Drinkwater, just east of Scottsdale Road, and just south of Old Town Scottsdale.
